Before finals week, a petting zoo was hosted at MVC. On May 2, MVC’s school of education and social sciences departments brought Crank’s Petting Zoo to campus. Crank’s Petting Zoo was on campus from 1-3 p.m., and more than 100 people attended to pet the animals.
The petting zoo included a calf, a lamb, a pony, and two donkeys. However, the main attraction was three baby goats that people could hold. People cradled the baby goats and took pictures with them. Complementary cookies were also at the event courtesy of Crank’s Petting Zoo.
JR Reed, an MVC student, said the petting zoo was “relaxing, and I think a cool way to end the semester.” According to the National Institutes of Health, interacting with animals may decrease stress and improve heart health. As finals week approaches, an often stressful time for students, this petting zoo could help students relieve stress.
